History

More than 65 years of pharmaceutical competence.

The beginnings

1942

The Swiss dental surgeon Dr. Paul Kradolfer founds the company Pharmaton in Lugano.

1948

Pharmaton first introduces lipressine as a vasoconstrictor for local dental anaesthesia; it is then patented as Pharmatonin.

1954

Pharmaton develops and patents its own molecule of lidocaine, a common local anaesthetic and antiarrhythmic drug.

Changes

1960s

Research and scientific documentation on different medicinal plants, in particular on the roots of Panax ginseng, by C. A. Meyer. For the first time, it became possible to obtain a standardised ginseng extract from these roots (then patented as G115®).

1961

First marketing approval and launch of Geriavit Pharmaton® in Switzerland.

1967

Launch of Kiddi® Pharmaton.

1975-1977

Launch of the Ginsana® line.

1989

Launch of Gincosan® and Prostatonin®.

Boehringer Ingelheim

1991

Integration into the Boehringer Ingelheim Group as a “dedicated centre” for phytopharmaceutical research.

From 1994 on

New marketing and PR strategy introduced under the logo "Pharmaton Natural Health Products"; constant development of new products and new galenic forms of existing products.

1995

Launch of Antistax®.

2000

Launch of Songha® Night.
New, fully automated high-bay warehouse.

2002

Launch of Seresis®

2009
